The scope and significance of the cooperation between German and Indian researchers has increased substantially in the past years. To keep pace with the growing trend it is necessary to increase the awareness of the research environment in the partner countries. The mutual exchange of information on universities, research institutions and funding opportunities will further intensify Indo-German academic and research cooperation.
The DFG India Office in Delhi, along with its branch in Hyderabad, is striving to achieve this via supporting and coordinating established projects as well as the facilitation, design and implementation of new academic endeavors. One of the leading goals of these activities is to generate added value beyond the research performance possible of the individual partners alone. This is implemented by creating synergy to allow research which would not be possible without the cooperation between the researchers of both countries. The DFG India Office is undertaking these tasks in close interaction with the DFG Head Office in Bonn, Germany, and its Indian partners. These include the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the Indian Council for Historical Research, (ICHR) and the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR).
